Flensburg defeats Eisenach, Uscins shines
The ThSV Eisenach presents Bundesliga leaders Flensburg with unconventional challenges, but the Northerners successfully overcome them. TSV Hannover-Burgdorf also follows up their victory over runner-up Füchse Berlin.
SG Flensburg-Handewitt remains at the top of the Handball Bundesliga table. Their 30:25 (15:11) victory over ThSV Eisenach was the fourth win in four games for the Northerners. The SG is the only team without any loss of points. The top scorers of the game were Simon Pytlick with nine goals for the guests and Simone Mengon with seven goals for Eisenach. The Flensburg team, who lost their away game against the Wartburg city team last season, struggled especially in the beginning phase in terms of offense. Under coach Nicolej Krickau, the team made too many simple mistakes. However, in the 16th minute, Mads Mensah Larsen secured a 9:5 lead for SG.
The Eisenach team often played in attack without a pivot player and constantly switched defensive systems. This made the hosts a very uncomfortable opponent. In the 36th minute, German national player Marko Grgic received a red card after an action against Pytlick. This meant that the hosts were missing a central component in their game. The Northerners took advantage of this and celebrated an undisputed away win against a resilient Thuringian team. Meanwhile, TSV Hannover-Burgdorf achieved a narrow away victory against Frisch Auf Göppingen. With a 33:31 (16:16) win, the „Recken“ secured their third victory in four games. Once again, national player Renars Uscins stood out with ten goals. Last weekend, the „Recken“ defeated runner-up Füchse Berlin with a score of 38:35, and Uscins even scored eleven times. Meanwhile, Göppingen is still waiting for their first win of the season.
